Give me quality espresso, an eclectic playlist, and a thoughtfully designed space. One of my favorite things to do is explore through cafés - either for doing work or to simply observe from behind a flat white. Each has a unique design and type of clientele, you can hop from world to world just in the space of a coffee shop.
"Grow where you're planted..." Sunday morning coffee. A meditation. Living in NYC, Sundays were reserved for dancing to live Brazilian music in Brooklyn with friends. We called it "dance church" and yes, it was a spiritual experience. Both my cardio and also a chance to feel like I was in another country, speak português and meet people from all over the world who came to dance at Miss Favela. Part of the life I had carved out for myself.
We may be home but that's doesn't mean we can't travel in our mind or reminisce of places we've traveled. I took this shot at a cat cafe on a side street in Bangkok I found while seeking refuge from the sun. A moment to write, reflect and somehow make these fleeting moments a bit more long-lasting by committing them to ink in my journal. I remember the feeling of sitting here observing, listening to distant conversations and smiling at the way of life in a place foreign to me - A whole world outside of mine.
